Aaron Niguez to return to Rangers

Despite reports of young loan winger Aaron being recalled by Valencia, the youngster will be back at Ibrox for next season.  Aaron’s loan was reportedly terminated by Valencia after one year at Rangers, but the player says he will be back.

Sporting director at Valencia, Fernando Gomez, said at the time:

“We would have liked Niguez to play more matches in Scotland but, overall, we are pleased with his progression.

“It’s been a beneficial experience for him playing in the Scottish Premier League. However, it’s now time for him to come back.”

However, Aaron will return to play in the SPL next season in a bizarre twist of fate.

Aaron told Rangers.co.uk:

“Valencia wanted me to go back to them for this season but I was keen to come back to Rangers.

“I am due to spend one more year at the club and I want to stay there. I think it is a good place for me to be and I want to help the team to do well.

“I am hopeful I can play more football than I did in my first season in Scotland because I have got used to the game there now and I feel I have improved.

“I was very happy in Glasgow and I’m looking forward to going back there and trying to win more trophies for the club.”

Since his alleged return to his club in Spain, Aaron has been a highlight of the Mediterranean Games in Italy for the Spain under-20’s team, scoring in the 2-2 draw with Tunisia, netting another against Albania and being an instrumental figure in the squad’s win over France.  Spain now face hosts Italy in the final of the tournament.

“Things have gone very well for me in Italy. We drew our first game 2-2 and I scored then I got another goal against Albania.

“I feel I have been playing some good football, especially against France in the semi-final. I didn’t score in that game but for me, it was my best match.

“Now we have the final against Italy at the weekend and that should be an exciting game because they are the host country.

“When we finish here, I will be looking forward to coming back to Rangers and it will be good to get back to training there.

“I am not sure if I will get extra time off or not because I have been playing in Italy. I will have to speak to the manager about that.

“But even if I get a few more days off to go home and relax, I will be keen to come back to Rangers after that and get started again.”

Thomson could be ready for new season

Kevin Thomson sat in the stands watching his team-mates lift the SPL and Scottish Cup trophies.  His recovery has been a lengthy process, with the player spending hours in physio each day and he is keen to get back on the pitch to regain the amazing form he had at the start of the last campaign.  Kevin told rangers.co.uk:

“It is difficult for any player to get back in after he has been out for a long period and I am no different.

“Competition has to be tough at any team and that is the case at Rangers. We’ve got some great midfielders here. We are very strong in that department.

“I have no worries about coming back and showing the form I showed before.

Kevin has once before suffered a long term injury during his time at Hibs, but the midfielder returned stronger than ever, the proof rewarded with the captain’s armband at Easter Road.  With Barry Ferguson almost certain to leave and new captain David Weir coming into the last season of his career (though how many times have we said that?), he could replicate that feat again at Ibrox.

“If you look at the last time I had the same injury when I was at Easter Road, I came back to become Hibs captain and part of a very good team.

“That in turn earned me my move to Rangers and I played in the fantastic run to the UEFA Cup Final so I think that showed that I could come back.

“I don’t doubt my ability. I’m sure I can get my form back to what it was before I was injured.”

Adam: I want to settle at Rangers

Charlie Adam has attracted the interests of a number of English clubs since his loan deal with Blackpool.  The midfielder was on loan and made an impact with the fans and management of the seasiders, and the club have already publically expressed their interest in signing Adam from Rangers, and reportedly had a bid knocked back only a couple of weeks ago.

Charlie however, wants to use the time he had in England to help him in his bid for a regular place at Ibrox.  Adam told the Blackpool Gazette:

“I worked really hard to earn myself the five-year deal I signed in 2007, so I’m not about to do anything rash that I might regret.

“At the moment, I’m only thinking about being as fit as possible when Rangers restart training on July 9.

“When that happens, I’ll probably discover where my future lies. I really want to settle down with one club, preferably Rangers.”

Goodbye Rangers TV

rangers_tv_presenter

In a statement on the Rangers.co.uk website, the club have announced the end of Rangers TV.  Since the shutdown of Setanta Sports in the UK, and no broadcaster taken over the reigns, the club have called it a day on the station.

Some fans seem more disappointed at the loss of RTV presenter Lindsey Archibald from our screens, but the club are keen to bring the station back for the fans but this is dependent on the new broadcaster of SPL football.

Rangers FC agree to Setting the Standard debate

Good news from Frankie, who sent us the details earlier on the Setting The Standard initiative - Rangers have accepted to discuss the project further at the next Rangers Supporters Assembly meeting.

Rangers FC Agree to ‘Setting the Standard’ Debate

We are pleased to announce that Rangers FC - via Chief Executive Martin Bain - have now commented on our ‘Setting the Standard’ project of the last few months.

Mr Bain has made the following points worthy of note by fans interested in the project:

- The club have read the report and thanked the contributors for their constructive efforts.
- Many of the issues highlighted in the report have been prioritised by the club but should be the subject of continued and informed debate.
- The club are open at all times to constructive recommendations and suggestions.
- The club welcomes the opportunity to work positively with the Rangers family.
- To that end, the club are recommending the report be tabled as a main agenda item at the next Rangers Supporters Assembly meeting where the club will be happy to participate.

We welcome this positive momentum and hope that this initial discussion will prove to be the first step towards an open debate between the support and the club in relation to the main points of the ‘Setting the Standard’ report.
