Melbourne is abuzz again with the preparations for the big race
    next weekend...
Its going to rain for the next three days ,leading into the first
    practice sessions on Thursday.
The cars have a few changes from last year....
Tyres....60mm wider on the front, 80 wider on the back
Wings...150mm wider on front, 200mm wider and set lower
rear diffuser is longer -wider- taller....
    bodywork is 200mm wider overall....
Fuel...allowance increased by 5kg to account for extra drag
    and increased speeds...
downforce more powerful due to increased height ,width and length
speeding up under car airflow to increase downforce....
Still 1.6 -litre petrol turbo,V6 hybrid power units, but
    higher revving and increased noise....
tyres will be of more durable compounds enabling drivers
    to race harder for longer.....
    I,m going this year....cant wait....

Looking forward to this season as I think it will be a lot closer between the teams.

I am still going to go for Hamilton to win the title though.

Ferrari has been looking tasty in the two tests.
They were putting faster times in than Mercedes despite running slower tyres.

You can't read too much into the testing, but it does look like it will be much closer this year.

The only team that was showing it's true pace was McLaren, but that's because the recovery truck was limited to 55mph

    :LMFAO:

I like the look of the cars this year and some nice liveries. The Force India is PINK!!

Ferrari and Red Bull should be closer this year since they moaned like fuck to the FIA to stop Mercedes using some of the tech on their cars.

As long as the finger doesn't win i will be a happy bear. Canny stand that greeting faced c***!

This is something I used to stay up till 4 am for I was so into it but drifted away when it became too processional and without any charismatic characters.

Maybe I need to try again, but as with all sports, you need to have a favourite to make it really enjoyable.

I've struggled with that since Coulthard as we had a genuine Scottish contender after years of adopting someone from elsewhere - it's now harder to find someone to like.

Before it was the likes of Senna and Mansell, and I could get behind Johnny Herbert and Martin Brundle even though they weren't exactly successful. I could even get a bit behind Damon Hill, even though he often made me cringe.

I quite liked Jenson Button, but just wasn't into it while he was around, and now, if looking for a Brit, I just can't relate to Hamilton - just far too negatively English for me.

I'm always more supporting the driver rather than the team, but have a soft spot for McLaren, probably from Senna and Coulthard, and maybe a bit for Mercedes as I had a few of those.

So who is a decent driver to follow now?

Thinking I should really follow Red Bull as I live about half a mile from their factory and so literally my local team, but as you can't even do a tour, there was no real connection even when they were the best.

I've loved Formula One since I was in single digits and I don't really have a favourite driver anymore.

I think Hamilton's a great driver but I've never been a fan of his, never been sure why but it's probably jealousy.

I like McLaren's livery this season but yeah...they're likely not doing much this season.

I used to really enjoy it, but in the last 10 years there have been long periods of dominance from Red Bull and Mercedes so the Championship hasn't been competetive. I'll watch it this weekend in the hope that the new changes help even it out.

Lots of high pitched whining coming from the Mercedes in Australia.

But it clears up when Hamilton takes his finger off the radio button.

Excellent news coming out of McLaren.

Alonso is going to miss the Monaco Grand Prix so he can race in the Indy 500 in a McLaren

He will be in an Andretti Honda but it's a McLaren entry and will be branded as such.

I could see him making a full time switch to IndyCars at some point.

Alonso's engine blows with 20 odd laps to go.
